Trusting the Universe
I’ve been exploring my relationship with trust lately—trust in myself, trust in the universe, trust in the unseen forces that shape our lives. What I’ve uncovered is raw, uncomfortable, and deeply illuminating. I’ve realized that while I believe in the universe’s capacity to support others, I’ve struggled to believe it’s working for me. I’ve been carrying this quiet, heavy feeling that the universe wanted me to suffer, that my brokenness was evidence of punishment rather than refinement.
But here’s the truth I’ve come to see: I am not separate from the universe. None of us are. The universe isn’t some distant force handing out favours to some and withholding from others. It’s an inherent, natural flow of energy, and we are all part of it. I see evidence of this everywhere—the trees, the wolves, even people living with so little. Somehow, life sustains them. The universe provides for all of life’s basic needs. But then the question arises: why do some parts of life thrive while others merely survive?
The answer, I believe, lies in alignment. When a being—whether it’s a tree, an animal, or a human—tunes into its natural instincts and aligns with its essence, it thrives. Disconnection from this flow, however, leads to suffering. And for us as humans, this disconnection often comes from our own minds—from shame, feelings of unworthiness, or a belief in our brokenness. These beliefs are powerful enough to create a sense of separation, convincing us that we are cut off from the very force that sustains us.
For so long, I’ve believed that the universe was punishing me. I’ve seen the parts of myself that aren’t in alignment with my highest potential as evidence of failure rather than opportunities for refinement. I’ve felt unheard and unsupported when the universe didn’t provide comfort during my moments of deepest sorrow. But the universe isn’t an emotional entity. It isn’t punishing me—it’s collaborating with me. It’s answering the call of my soul’s desires to grow, expand, and reach my highest potential. The universe is not here to soothe us into complacency; it’s here to polish us, to refine us through the experiences we’ve asked to encounter.
The darkness I’ve felt—the loss, the suffering, the hopelessness—hasn’t been a punishment. It’s been a gift. Because it is only through the depths of sorrow that we can truly comprehend the heights of joy. The brightness of light is illuminated by the contrast of darkness. And so, the universe, in its wisdom, gives us both. It doesn’t take sides; it gives us the tools to experience the fullness of life, to learn and expand through every shadow and every beam of light.
I am beginning to see my brokenness not as a flaw but as a point of expansion. Each piece of me that feels misaligned is an invitation to reconnect with the flow of the universe, to align more fully with the essence of who I am. The universe isn’t here to tear us down; it’s here to build us up, but only when we choose to let go of the belief that we are separate from it.
We are the universe. And in that truth lies the ultimate power. Only we can choose to disconnect from this force. And only we can choose to reconnect. Through trust. Through surrender. Through the understanding that every hardship is a step toward our refinement, and every moment of darkness is an opportunity for our light to shine brighter.
This isn’t just a journey of trust in the universe—it’s a journey of trust in ourselves, in our ability to align with the flow and thrive in ways we may not have thought possible. It’s an invitation to stop seeing ourselves as broken and instead see the masterpiece we are in the process of becoming.
